RELEASE
Liquid ruby laced with
Morning's Gold,
embalmed with Dawn,
awaits Nature’s quill.
She alone would loving
inscribe her unvaried,
unremarkable journey
upon Spring's green
parchment by the
weeping waters.
Entreaties to the mighty
Scrivener unheeded,
in this space abloom
with insistent, pulsating
life, she surrenders her
breath to the Infinite.
Dreams of Avalon's
salve apple blossoms
shower upon her
bloodless frailness,
as darkness ebbs from
her veins.
Her last sighs float
into mournful birdsong,
into healing solitude.
The wild doves she
raised from birth gather
about her, memories of
her smile, of life giving
hands, of this grieving
Spring morning to carry
into Eternity.
Her soul takes wing,
songs that led her
to the womb now
bear her toward
evergreen plains of
Release.
