ESSENCE

Seconds and minutes drip into
a rainbow cup, coral
hours and red-gold seasons,
spaces drenched in
myriad colours, in celestial verse
forged in distant canyons of fire.

To the Universe's rhythm, this
molten weave pearls into
varicoloured droplets, brilliant
and subtle, marbled and
mottled, iridescent and subdued,
smooth and textured.

Fate swings perfumed censers
over spheres swirling through
Time, showers evanescence upon
these pilgrims of the ether,
lending them substance and spirit,
wings and anchor.

Life gathers feathery webs Earth
contrived in her womb,
spins fragile strands of Death; upon
such she strings cosmic jewels,
this many-hued bounty birthed in
another firmament.
